"Hi there, my name's Snowy Skies! It's very nice to meet you. I love ice cream and swimming. I've always wanted to find a Seapony!"
ASK SNOWY SKIES was a Tumblr ask blog that I began in 2012 when I was 15, and ran intermittently until 2017. Snowy was my very first MLP OC, and I had so much fun running her blog! She remains very dear to me.
Her story has changed significantly since I ran this blog, and I now consider it mostly non-canon. One important difference to note is that for most of the blog's life, Snowy was depicted as a child. That has since been changed, but please keep it in mind while looking through this archive!
Posts appear oldest to newest. Some posts will not be archived here for various reasons, and others have been lost over time, so some plotlines and interactions may be fragmented.

(( Fanart for Paper Flake! I just loooove the colors! ))
Archive Note: The linked account was ask-paper-flake (deactivated)
Archive Note: The ask that went along with this drawing seems to be lost. From what I remember, someone claimed to have a picture of a seapony.

Archive Note: Two drawings of Snowy with no context. They were saved with my Ask Snowy Skies files, so I assume they were on the blog at one point in time.
(( Commission for CarrotQuil!
EDIT; Added cutie mark! Oops!! ))
(( Commission for Red Delicious!
I didn't forget to add the cutie mark to the pon this time!! ))

"Now that things have calmed down.. Maybe I'll come back."
Archive Note: It seems like I went through quite a few "comebacks" later in the blog's life. It's so DRAMATIC
"I.. Still don't have one."
"It's pretty!!"
"..."
"I iron them an[sic] brush the fluffy ones every day!"

Archive Note: Here, I was trying to start some sort of actual narratively-driven story arch. This was the only post I ever actually made about it, and the story was promptly dropped. That house was also absolutely traced LOL
Archive Note: Can you tell I was undiagnosed AuDHD?
Archive Note: HERE WE GO AGAIN...

Before we get into the actual backstory of the characters and what was actually going on, here are some minor changes and some small bits of info:
- Snowy NO LONGER died her mane, meaning it was NOT brown when she was a baby
- Snowy is now 10 years old
- Snowy’s Dad actually DID pass away during the blog, and was going to be used for a plot on another blog by a friend of mine, but their blog died as mine did, so it wasn’t really explained and it didn’t happen
- Snowy and her family live in Ponyville, because her Mom can’t walk on the clouds in Cloudsdale
- Snowy still has Blinkie, a small robotic Sea Pony made for her by a friend-- Bubblesworth is still alive, too!
- Tinkie Tonk, Snowy’s Mom, is a Toy Maker
- Clinchy, Snowy’s Dad, was a Librarian
- Snowy has since learned how to fly much better
- Snowy’s special talent is actually ice cream/frozen confectionery making, but she has yet to figure this out because she’s been so obsessed with trying to find a seapony
- Snowy would LOVE to work at Sugar Cube Corner, but she’s currently helping in her Dad’s old library, which was taken over by a family friend. She restocks the bookshelves for a small pay
- Snowy has always had a big crush on Scootaloo, and has always wanted to join the CMC
- Snowy’s family is no longer in SERIOUS financial problems
The main story of the blog has been altered slightly, and here it is in it’s[sic] full glory!:
"Snowy’s Dad, Clinchy, had always LOVED the Seapony lore, and had been trying to find once since HE was a colt. He never had any luck, but that didn’t stop him from trying. He read every book he could find on them, and memorized them front-to-back. In fact, he had read every book in his library front-to-back! So, when a strange cloaked pony entered his library and dropped off an equally strange book, he knew that this wasn’t one of his.
It turned out to be the journal of Captain St. Beck, the first landpony to ever travel to the mystic “Caves Aurora”, which was said to be the birthplace of the very first seapony, created by a powerful magic surrounding the caves. The caves are said now to be a gathering place for seaponies, and that at night, their scales light up the water so brightly, that passing ships miles away can see it. This is called the "Aurora Phenomenon”, named after the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis.
The Aurora legend says that the caves are cursed, and that any landpony who dares try and come near the caves, will be struck with an unshakable illness, and will die soon after. This was created to protect the seaponies from anypony that would be a danger to their species.
Capt. St. Beck tried to travel to the Caves, but was struck ill before he even got near. The crew went on, only to fall ill, themselves. They did not get far before they all succumbed to their illnesses, and passed, leaving their ship to sail alone until it finally sank.
However, St. Beck had recorded the co-ordinates of the caves, and his journey to reach them with a crude map in the very back of the book, and Clinchy saw this as an opportunity. He had read in many books that there were ways to reverse the curse of the Caves, and he was SURE he would be able to use at least ONE of them to keep himself save.
Hesitant, his wife, Tinkie Tonk, built him a boat, and he went off to try and find the Caves, and locate a Seapony. Snowy was 6 when he left, and 7 when he returned, ill from the seapony curse. He hadn’t been able to reach the caves, and had set back home as soon as the illness had stricken him. His cure methods had worked to slow the ailment, but they were unsuccessful in saving him in the long run.
Snowy’s father passed when she was 8, after a year of struggling, and desperately using his many learned remedies to try and reverse the effects of the curse. Of course, there isn’t any magic like seapony magic.
Clinchy had told Snowy about seaponies from the day she was born-- her favorite bedtime stories were those from one of her father’s seapony legend books. She had shared her father’s passion, as much as a little filly could, and when he returned home ill, he[sic] promised him that SHE would find him a seapony, and that he would see one before he died.
She never did find a seapony before her father’s passing. She’s now made it her life goal to find them, no matter what. This has taken away from her actually learning about her special talent, and she has yet to get her cutiemark because of this. She’s SURE her cutiemark will be something to do with seaponies-- she just has to find one!"
This blog will stay in lighter spirits than it was in it’s[sic] earlier years! Unless an actual story arch is started, it will just be the blog of a young filly answering your questions, and talking about her love of mint chip ice cream and fluffy scarves!
I can’t wait to start back up again, and see a brand new era of Snowy Skies begin!
